STAFF at the Atomic Weapons Establishment has raised almost £2,000 for a cancer charity.
Ten teams at AWE, in Aldermaston, drank plenty of tea and coffee and held bake-off competitions at a number of events to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
Nina Yates, business administrator at AWE, said: “Macmillan Cancer Support is a charity that is very personal to me, because I lost my father to cancer.
“The support I got from other team members was overwhelming. AWE is committed to supporting local and national charities with donations, sponsorship and practical help. It’s part of our culture.”
Meanwhile, AWE has launched a new online education resource for teachers, students and parents which aims to inspire students to take a great interest in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The AWEsome Education Zone provides resources including revision notes, exam questions and scientific experiments which support primary, secondary and sixth form learning.
