BURGLARS forced their way into a couple's home and stole a number of treasured possesions.

The incident happened at some time between 1pm on Friday, September 11 and 8.30pm on Saturday, September 12 at a flat in The Dell.

The victims, a man and a woman aged in their early 30s, had left their home to go away for the evening, ensuring that all the doors and windows were locked.

When they returned home the following evening they found their French doors had been forced open.

A number of items had been stolen, including:

• A Tiffany silver ring etched with ‘I love you’

• A tie clip with initials engraved on the front and a date on the back. This was given to the victim when he was an usher at his brother’s wedding.

• A silver and black iPad with an inscription on the back.

Police staff investigator, Melody Manning, said: “Two people on bicycles were seen near to the scene at about 8.30pm on Saturday, September 12. Did you see them too?

"Also, a little later that evening a light turquoise or blue car was seen in the Regents Park area where some empty boxes linked to this burglary were found discarded. Did you see this car?

“We’d like to reunite the victims with the treasured belongings and would urge anyone who has any information about where the stolen items might be, or who could be responsible, to get in touch."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact PSI Manning at Southampton police station by calling 101 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111, where information can be left anonymously.
