A PAMBER End school opened its doors to the community at a celebratory summer event.

The Parent Association at The Priory Primary School held Summer Celebration as a way to give something back to pupils and parents for their contribution throughout the year.

There was plenty of fun on offer for those attending, with the opportunity to browse stalls run by pupils from the school, have fun on a bouncy castle, or take part in children’s races and a tug of war competition.

Youngsters were kept entertained by competing in a five-a-side football tournament, a Disney sing-a-long and a baking contest.

Popular Basingstoke boyband Concept entertained visitors at the event by singing during the afternoon.

Gavin Roger, chairman of the Parent Association, said: “The idea of the event was to change perspective from purely a fundraising opportunity, to a relaxed, welcoming, friendly revelry, celebrating the achievements of children, adults, teachers, parents and the local community. We were lucky enough to have an amazing amount of input from parents, pupils and local businesses to make the day a fantastic success.

“We were extremely excited that the mayor had agreed to visit and the children were very proud when they received their prizes from an important local dignitary.”

Headteacher Suzanne Kelly added: “For us the Summer Celebration was about embracing the contributions of our generous school community; giving back the same amount of promises and enthusiasm that help to solidify the framework of a unified, jubilant school.”
