HER life was saved thanks to the generosity of other people, now Oakley mum Sarah Carlisle is giving back to help the fight against cancer.
In 2008, Sarah’s life was saved when she received a transfusion having lost three-and-a-half litres of blood during a caesarean delivery of her son Connor.
At the time, she appeared on the front page of The Gazette backing an NHS blood donor campaign.
The 42-year-old has now had her hair completely shaved off to raise money for Cancer Research UK, in support of a friend who has terminal cancer.
The mother-of-two said: “I had my life saved at Basingstoke hospital in 2008 when I gave birth to my son, so wanted to save someone else’s life this time.”
Sarah hopes her generosity in parting with her hair to raise money will benefit others, and came up with the idea after her friend Samantha Tanner lost her own hair from chemotherapy treatment.
Her challenge has so far raised an impressive £2,650.
