POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a woman had her mobile phone snatched from her on Friday morning.

The 29-year-old victim was talking on her phone while pushing a shopping trolley over a bridge along Worting Road, which crosses over the A340 Ringway West, at around 10.30am on Friday when a man approached her from behind and snatched the phone from her hand.

The man then ran off past the entrance to the Worting Road Cemetery.

The offender is described as white, aged between 20 and 30-years-old, approximately 5ft 6ins tall and of a medium build. He was wearing a grey hoody with the hood up, blue jeans and blue trainers.

PC Mike Cowell from Basingstoke Police Station said: “We are interested in speaking with anybody who may have witnessed this incident. It occurred along a busy road and we are hoping that a passing motorist may hold vital information to assist our investigation.
