A POTENTIALLY life-saving first aid course will be held in Basingstoke in October.

First aid charity St John Ambulance, which is based in Devonshire Business Park, in Knights Park Road, will be holding an ‘Essential First Aid for All Ages’ course on Saturday, October 10.

The course, which costs £30 and will take place between 10am and 1pm, is aimed at anyone over the age of 12 who wants to learn first aid.

It focuses on a range of emergency situations involving infants, children and adults and will include scenarios such as choking, bleeding and helping a person who has stopped breathing.

Marita Edwards, south east regional schools and community training coordinator, said: “No-one should die because they needed first aid and didn’t get it, but sadly too many lives are lost every year in situations where first aid could have given people a chance to live.

“At a St John Ambulance training course you’ll learn to be the difference between life and death.

“You never know when you might need first aid, it could be at home, at work, on holiday or just out and about.

“It can all happen in a second.”
