A SPECTACULAR performance by Take That brought this year’s CarFest South to a close.

The band, made up of Gary Barlow, Mark Owen and Howard Donald, wowed the crowd of thousands at the Overton motoring and music festival with a selection of their greatest hits, including Patience, Relight My Fire and Back for Good.

Acts who played on the main stage on Sunday included English pop-rock outfit Level 42, new country band The Shires and folk act Bellowhead.

Petrolheads also got a treat by watching the hill climb show in the centre of the festival site, which included some Formula 1 cars from the private collection of Laverstoke Park Farm owner Jody Scheckter.

Among the famous faces found at CarFest South this year was former Olympic rower James Cracknell, Pink Floyd drummer Nick Mason, celebrity chef James Martin and former Reading FC manager Nigel Adkins.

Organiser Chris Evans said: “It’s been the best CarFest ever. We’ve got to do it again, we’ve no choice. It’s too much fun that’s got to be had.”
