YELLOW plastic ducks raced along a river at an annual fete held in the grounds of a Whitchurch home.

Hundreds of people attended the Whitchurch Parish Fete at The Lawn last month to enjoy a host of entertainment.

The fete was opened by North West Hampshire MP Kit Malthouse, and also in attendance was Whitchurch Mayor Barry Jackman.

Locally sourced burgers and sausages were cooked on a barbecue, while others enjoyed their own picnics sat beside the River Test.

A programme of performances was put on in an arena, including from JLD School of Dancing, McInerney School of Irish Dance and acoustic band Call Me Al.

Visitors could also browse a variety of stalls or take part in fete games, including a coconut shy, ‘chuck a chicken’, and a tombola. Simon Woodman, from the organising committee, who handed over chairmanship to David Hills this year, said: “It was a fantastic sunny day with perfect weather.”

It is hoped that about £5,000 will have been raised from the day, which will be split between five charities.
