STUDENTS from BCoT’s fashion retail department held an exhibition to showcase their final major project work to family, friends and members of the public.

Six weeks of diligent effort went into the project, which has a fundamental impact on the students’ overall grades for the course. Each learner followed a different brief resulting in a range of unique displays. Some examples of the work produced included:

• Designing new retail concepts for existing retailers;

• Creating a new brand and planning a marketing campaign;

• Fashion styling and buying.

Each of these projects are a simulated industry situation which gives the students real world experience. This task has also helped them to build impressive portfolios that will give them an excellent chance of progressing into employment or higher education.

Fashion retail students are now being given the opportunity to continue studying at BCoT on the Level 4 programme, an offer that is too good to refuse for many. One learner progressing onto the higher level course is May Riggs, who said: “I can’t wait to move onto the next level. I’ve already learned so much and I’m excited to build my knowledge and experience further. During my final major project I produced a brand, marketed it, held a launch event and finally created a product.”

Lecturer Sarah Gallagher said: “All of the work that has been produced has been of outstanding quality. I have no doubt that everybody on this course will be successful in the future. This type of experience is so crucial in industry.”
