HUNDREDS of people flocked to a Baughurst garden last month to raise money for three good causes.

Caroline Nash organised the third Nashfest festival in her garden in Shaw Lane, Baughurst, to pull in the pounds for St Michael’s Hospice, Macmillan Cancer Support and Breast Cancer Care.

The 44-year-old, who volunteers at St Michael’s Hospice in Aldermaston Road started the event, along with friend Caroline Wyatt, three years ago to give something back to the charities.

A record-breaking £9,000 was raised from the event, which will see £6,000 go to St Michael’s Hospice, £2,000 to Macmillan Cancer Support and £1,000 for Breast Cancer Care.

Attractions included a bouncy castle, jewellery making, a silent disco and a raffle and auction which included prizes such as £150 cash, a magnum of champagne and a ride in a Ferrari.

Visitors could also enjoy live music from acts such as the Potbelly Chimps, Alex Middleton and Beth Atkinson.

Mrs Nash said: “It was busier than it has been before and we were at capacity and lots of people camped over.

“It was such a good event.

“I volunteer at the hospice and it is a lovely place and we chose Breast Cancer Care because we know a few friends going through breast cancer at the moment.

“I have been told that this was our best one ever because the weather was predicted to be nice.

“Last year it was going to rain and a few people didn’t come. This time we had an absolutely full camp site. We have had people asking about tickets (for next year) already.”
