A 'loving and caring' motorcyclist killed in a crash has been named by police.

Lewis Holmes died at Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth after being seriously injured in a crash on Portsdown Hill.

The 24-year-old, from Wellington Avenue in Bitterne, was rushed to hospital but died as a result of his injuries, following the collision with a Vauxhall Astra at 6.30pm on Saturday.

The driver and three passengers in the car suffered only minor injuries. Two of the four were taken to hospital.

In a statement, Lewis' family said: "Lewis is a kind, thoughtful, loving and caring son, brother, uncle and friend.

"Devoted to his beloved Danni, loved, well-respected and hard working to all that know him.

"He will be forever missed by all of his family, friends, colleagues, and of course, his cats.

"He will be loved eternally, not gone, just out for a ride."

• Anyone who witnessed the crash or may be able help with the investigation into the crash is asked to call 101 and ask for the South East Hampshire Roads Policing Unit, quoting Operation Roman.
