A SOUTH Ham community centre has been given a cash boost from Hampshire County Council.

Westside Community Association, which runs Westside Community Centre, in Paddock Road, South Ham has been awarded £8,930 to refurbish the men’s toilet at the centre.

According to their application, the improvement project is expected to “encourage new groups and users to the centre, increasing income generation and financial sustainability for the organisation”.

The community has not been refurbished since it was opened 40 years ago.

Along with the cash boost from the county council, the community association has secured £2,945 from Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council and has committed £4,900 of its own funds.
