A PARISH councillor has offered to provide a new village hall on his land.
Councillor David Snook, from Pamber Parish Council, has applied to the borough council to build six homes and the hall at Berry Court Farm, in New Road, Little London. The homes would consist of two two-bedroom bungalows and four four-bedroom houses.
The new village hall would replace St Stephen’s Hall, in Silchester Road, which is described as having “outlived its usefulness”, and 40 new parking spaces would serve the hall.
The parish council discussed the matter at a meeting in May, after being approached by Cllr Snook, who offered to provide a new hall on his land, which would be gifted to the parish.
The minutes, which are part of the planning application, state: “In order to do this he would wish to build a small number of dwellings on site.”
The application says: “The hall together with the village green, will create a focal point for the village, a place for recreation and community events, replacing the tiny and dilapidated St Stephen’s Hall.”
