IT is a rare achievement – but a determined Basingstoke Brownie has managed to gain all 57 badges.

Lottie Jackson followed in the footsteps of her elder sister Hannah, who hit the headlines two years ago when she became one of a rare few to be awarded every single badge in the book.

Now, her 10-year-old sister has gone on to do the same, after telling The Gazette in 2013 that she was well on her way to working through each of the badges, having completed 34 by the age of eight.

A special celebration was held for Lottie at Chineham Village Hall, where she attends Brownies with the 3rd Chineham pack.

During her three years with the group she has produced evidence and completed tasks for each of the badges, some of which are very specialist, such as circus performer, dancer, discovering faith, first aid, rider and toymaker.

For her musician badge Lottie had to make a percussion instrument, show that she could name the different values of musical notes, name the notes on a stave and understand simple Italian musical terms.

But this wasn’t a huge challenge, as Lottie is musically talented having played the drums for two years, and has performed in front of a crowd of 600 at a gig in Aldershot.

Lottie said one of the most challenging badges to earn was the rider: “It was hard because when the horse was meant to walk it cantered. I overcame my fears and that’s how I got through it.”

Her first badge achieved was swimmer, and her last was toymaker.

Angela Hammond, county commissioner attended the celebratory event for Lottie, along with Basingstoke MP Maria Miller.
