SINGERS from Basingstoke performed with celebrities at a celebration to mark the 10 year anniversary of their choir.

Dozens of members of the Basingstoke Rock Choir travelled to the Genting Arena in Birmingham for the party, where they were joined by The One and Only singer Chesney Hawkes, and Kiki Dee, best known for her duet with Elton John on Don’t Go Breaking My Heart.

Thousands of members of Rock Choir from across the country sang with the stars as they performed their well known hits, to mark 10 years since founder Caroline Redman Lusher set up the first choir in Farnham.

Members then watched a video with birthday wishes from all over the world, from celebrities including Olly Murs and Joan Collins.

Their birthday cards will be auctioned to the general public in June to raise money for charity Shooting Star Chase.

Each choir at the event selected a member to go on stage and wave a flag showing the name of the town or city where they meet.

More than 130 members took part in the parade waving their handmade, personalised flags to represent their local choir.

Members also heard from Clare Cook, head of campaigns for charity Missing People, which has been supported by Rock Choir over the years.

A collection at the end of the event raised a further £7,000 for the charity.

Clare said: “We are so grateful and blown away by the generosity of the members - thank you to you all, you really are a lifeline, changing lives through song.”
