AN OPENING stand of 132 between Harry Smith and Callum Coombs helped Basingstoke and North Hants maintain their 100 per cent record in North Hampshire Cricket Association Midweek League Division One.
Chasing Basingstoke Hockey Club's total of 141-6, Smith hit 70 and Coombs 51, almost getting them over the line. The Bountymen went on to win by eight wickets.
However, they remain second in the table, behind Hook and Newnham Basics, who beat Herriard by seven wickets.
Aldermaston Rugby's Division Two title hopes suffered a setback as they lost by seven wickets at home to AWE Tadley.
