THE Restaurant at BCoT played proud host to the finals of the Hampshire Create & Cook Competition 2015, giving pupils the opportunity to display their culinary talents.

Students from four schools around Hampshire took part in the final which saw them create a two-course menu using as many locally-sourced ingredients as possible.

The competition aims to nurture young talent and celebrate local food.

Judging the budding chefs were Adam Fargin, chef at Aviator in Farnborough, Davina Tibbetts, home economist and co-founder of the competition, Stuart Heaton, retail business manager of The Southern Co-operative’s Wickham store, and Min Raisman, organiser of the competition from fit2cook.

The winners were Zoe Parsons and Laura Pauley from Horndean Technology College in Waterlooville.

They will have their recipes professionally styled and photographed and also go on to the Regional Final of the Create & Cook Competition where they will compete against cooks from Sussex and Isle of Wight schools.

Catering and hospitality lecturer at BCoT, Ian Pitt said: “This competition challenges aspiring chefs to think about sustainability and the importance of supporting local farmers whilst giving them a chance to showcase their skills.

“Some of the talent on display was incredible.”
