CREATIVE work was on display at an annual fashion and art show hosted by a Basingstoke college.

The Fashion and Art Exhibition at Basingstoke College of Technology was the culmination of several months of hard work and preparation by students on various courses including BA (Hons) textiles for fashion and BTEC diplomas in art and design.

A catwalk show impressed the audience, with extravagant and inspirational designs on parade, while the art exhibition showcased students’ creative talents using different materials including silk and printed fabrics.

For some students, the art display was an exhibition of their work from across their three years at the college, in Worting Road. First and second year students from the BA programme also had the chance to design a commemorative, contemporary piece using silk panels produced at Whitchurch Silk Mill, to celebrate the 200th anniversary of the mill.

Natalie Jameson, head of department for art and design, said: “The outstanding work on display here represents not only the outstanding creativity and talents of our students, but also the grit and determination it t a kes to produce suc h a ma z i ng collections.

“This year our students have continued to meet the high expectations of the college, resulting in exotic, unique and amazing designs.

“The whole team are incredibly proud of the journey they have all taken to reach their full potential.”
