A MOTOWN music event last weekend pulled in over £600 for Hospital Radio Basingstoke.

Hospital radio volunteer Christine Rowley held a soul and Motown charity night at the Irish Centre, in Council Road, Basingstoke.

The event, which was attended by 114 people, raised £656 for the radio service at Basingstoke hospital.

Christine Rowley told The Gazette: “HRB were really pleased and amazed to receive £656 from the Motown charity night. It is a real boost towards running costs of the station to help cover insurance, heating and maintenance.”

Following the success of the event, Christine is organising another Motown charity night to raise funds for The Pink Place, a charity which supports women suffering with cancer in Basingstoke.

The event will take place between 8pm and 11.30pm at the Irish Centre on September 5.

Tickets, which are priced at £5, need to be booked in advance. For tickets, visit info@southernsoulclub.com.
