A NORTH east Hampshire pub will be offering customers a specially brewed beer to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle of Waterloo.

The Iron Duke, which is on the edge of the Duke of Wellington’s Estate, in Stratfield Saye, will sell Tipple of Waterloo at a celebratory event in June to mark the milestone occasion.

Being held on Saturday, from noon, the fete will raise money to buy a defibrillator for the community of Stratfield Saye.

Matthew Corden, landlord at The Iron Duke, said: “We re-opened the village pub and we want to do this almost as a thank you back to the village to give back the local people who have supported us.”

It is hoped the event, which will be free to attend and will include a barbecue and face painting, will raise £2,000. needed to purchase the life-saving defibrillator.

Those attending will be able to sample the new beer, commissioned by Wild Weather Ales.
