MEMBERS of a countryside conservation charity re-elected their chairman at an annual general meeting.

The North Hampshire district of the the Campaign to Protect Rural England (CPRE) held its AGM at Malshanger in the club house at the home of the group’s president, Sir Michael Colman.

At the meeting, Sir Michael thanked chairman Peter Bedford for hisenergy, enthusiasm and commitment, before proposing his re-election, which was unanimously agreed.

Members then elected six other officers and committee members before Mr Bedford gave a review of the year, during which more than £2,000 has been raised to help the work of the charity.

Mr Bedford said: “We care passionately about not spoiling our lovely countryside. CPRE takes a wide strategic view of housing and planning issues and encourages brownfield development.”

Members then enjoyed an informal tour around the woodland gardens with Lady Colman. following the meeting.
