FRANCE will be the theme of a holiday club being run for the over 60s this summer.

Holiday at St Mary’s will be held over three days from Tuesday, July 21 to Thursday, July 23, giving older people the chance to take part in various activities and meet new people.

Liz Perry is helping to organise the event at St Mary’s Church, in Goat Lane, Eastrop.

She said: “We feel that a lot of elderly people don’t have the opportunity to go on holiday.”

She added: “We have a theme and we go to a different country each year.

“Last year was Africa and this year we are going to France.

“The day starts with a welcome and they have tea and coffee and cakes.

“It will be very French themed, so croissants and macaroons.

“Then people are free to choose to do what they like.”

Participants can enjoy various craft activities such as card making, knitting or leather work.

There will also be several talks including one on history.

Games including Scrabble and Rummikub will be available to play, or for those just wanting to relax there will be an area with all the daily newspapers to read.

The three day event, which runs from 10.15am to 2.30pm, costs £18.

The price of the ticket includes a hot lunch on each day.

There is the option to attend for just one or two days.

Those interested in taking part should call the church on 01256 464249.
