THIEVES wearing motorcycle helmets stole thousands of pounds worth of cigarettes from a village shop.

The two men struck at the Nisa Local shop in Swan Street, Kingsclere, at around 1.30am on Thursday morning.

Police said they smashed their way into the store and took cigarettes from behind the counter, before leaving on a dark sports-style motorcycle in the direction of Overton.

They are described as being slim to medium build wearing casual clothing.

As well as the £1,000 worth of cigarettes stolen, the damage they caused is also said to be worth around £1,000.

DC Thomas Prutz said: “This was a small local business targeted for a high value theft. A substantial amount of money has been spent on updating the shop.

"As part of this incident the offenders did significant damage to the front of the store which must now be repaired.

"I would like to speak to anyone who saw or heard anything on the night or has any information at all about this crime. I would also like to speak to anyone who saw two people on a motorcycle overnight in the rural area of North Hampshire.”
