A WOMAN from Hartley Wintney has died after a 30ft fall on a mountain in Wales.
Susan Hawkins, 70, died on Wednesday night after her fall on the North Ridge of the 3,000ft Tryfan mountain in Snowdonia.
Members of the Ogwen Valley Mountain Rescue Organisation were called to the scene and found Ms Hawkins' body on a footpath.
A report from the group’s website read: “Two walkers were descending the north ridge of Tryfan, having decided to retreat from the North Tower area.
“At some point both walkers fell some distance and suffered serious injuries.
“The man managed to walk down to the road to raise the alarm despite his injuries, but the lady sadly passed away when the rescue team members located her.
“She was brought down off the mountain by stretcher and the family members were cared for at Oggie Base.”
It is thought the woman had been part of a group of six climbing the mountain.
The local coroner has started an investigation into the death.
