A MAN has died this morning after he was hit by multiple cars on the A303.

Police are appealing for information after the man, who is thought to be in his twenties, was struck by multiple vehicles on the A303, near Popham services at around 12.30am this morning.

Officers are currently notifying his next of kin to allow formal identification to take place.

Sergeant Andy Gwyer said: “We are appealing to anyone who was travelling eastbound on the A303 near Popham services around the time of the incident.

"We need to establish the exact circumstances and identify any further vehicles involved.

“One driver has come forward. We have spoken with several drivers at the scene, but we know there are still vehicles unaccounted for.

“Anyone who may have been involved or witnessed the incident is asked to come forward.”

The road was due to be opened at 6.30am.
