THE Fire Fighters Charity has benefited to the tune of £2,500 thanks to a recent fundraising fire engine pull in Tadley.

The volunteers dragged the fire truck a gruelling two miles from The Calleva Arms to Sainsbury’s in Tadley, passing Silchester Garage, The Pelican and The Broomsquire Hotel along the way.

The main pulling team consisted of senior Hampshire fire crew officers, who were joined by volunteers from Momentum Kettlebells, local gym Optimal Health & Performance - and the local vicar!

Crews of ten people completed the miles by travelling half a mile each.

Overall, the pull was achieved thanks to fantastic support from volunteers from a total of 23 companies.

Gary Blackman, the crew manager at Tadley Fire Station, said: “It was a great effort from the fire service and local community.

“It was tough on the legs but we surprisingly did it in a quick time of just one hour and 15 minutes.

“Thank you to everyone who came out to line the route to support the fire engine pull and cheered us on.”

The event is set to raise £2,500 for The Fire Fighters Charity.

The charity was set up in 1943 out of a desire to help wounded firefighters and provide support to their families during World War II.

Today it aims to help members of the fire and rescue community who put their lives on the line every day to save others, and to assist their families.

A final fundraising total for the Fire Engine Pull will be released in due course.
