A ROUNDABOUT between Basingstoke and Reading is set to be resurfaced as part of Hampshire County Council’s multi-million pound road investment programme, Operation Resilience.

Improvement work on the Stratfield Saye Roundabout, on the A33, is due to start on Monday, June 1 and is scheduled to finish at 6am on Saturday, June 6.

The work will be carried out during the night between 9pm and 6am to minimise disruption, and the overnight closures will include the roundabout, all four approaches and the Swallowfield bypass but diversions will be in place.

Hampshire County Council’s executive member for economy, transport and environment, Councillor Seán Woodward, said: “The work will be carried out during the night and at the weekend to keep disruption to a minimum.

“However the work will take a few days and as this is a very busy stretch of road, residents and people working in the area should allow extra time for their journeys.

“Good transport infrastructure is vital for Hampshire's economic prosperity, and it's important everyone can rely on well maintained roads so they can go about their day to day business.

“The approach taken for works under Operation Resilience is cost effective and efficient, and will mean the road surface will last for longer without need for repeated further repairs in the near future.”
