A BRAMLEY pre-school is among the best in the country after receiving an “outstanding” Ofsted report.

Little Apples of Bramley was visited by inspectors working for the education watchdog in April.

A report published by Ofsted last month said: “An excellent range of learning opportunities outdoors, combined with high levels of supervision and good teaching, promotes children’s physical skills.

“The staff establish good relationships with parents.

“They keep them well informed about their child’s progress welcoming their comments and suggestions.”

Inspectors praised the leadership team, describing them as “exceptionally well-informed”

and “dynamic”.

They added: “Children are happy and make very good progress in their learning.

“This is because staff have a clear understanding of children’s individual achievements, needs and next steps in development.

“Staff deliver an extensive range of indoor and outdoor activities and experiences.

“These spark children’s imaginations and their enthusiasm for learning.

“The quality of teaching is often outstanding as staff nurture children’s ability to motivate themselves, persist when tasks get tough, and take pleasure in their work.”

The pre-school, which has run in the village since 1970, based at Bramley Village Hall, in The Street, Bramley, has 53 children on roll.

All areas inspected were graded as “outstanding” by Ofsted.

Sian Davies, one of the joint managers, said: “It’s amazing actually.

“We are really proud of all our staff and community.

“Ofsted came just before the Easter break and we had been expecting them for a year or so.

“It’s an amazing feeling. All our parents had a really good reaction.”

She praised staff for their hard work.

She added: “They are all committed to keep on making it a better place for all the children.”
