A BASINGSTOKE beauty, who has recently been crowned Miss Basingstoke 2015, has pledged to raise as much money as she can for local charities.

As previously reported by The Gazette, Nicola Ascroft scooped the title of Miss Basingstoke 2015 after coming runner-up in the Miss England Hampshire heat on March 14.

As well as coming runner-up in the main accolade, Nicola, of Hargreaves Close, Popley won the Charity Queen award after raising nearly £2,500 for Miss World’s children’s charity – Beauty with a Purpose.

The 21-year-old, who runs D&D Beauty in Sherfield-on-Loddon, will now go on to the Miss England semi-final in July in a bid to get through to the finals later this year.

Nicola was officially given the Miss Basingstoke title by the organiser of Miss and Mr Hampshire 2015, Paula Langley, at a special reception at the Hampshire Court Hotel, in Chineham, last month.

The Mayor and Mayoress of Basingstoke and Deane, Councillor Roger Gardiner and wife Tricia also attended the reception.

Nicola told The Gazette: “I feel honoured to have been titled Miss Basingstoke and being able to represent my town after coming runner-up in the Miss Hampshire competition.

“It was an amazing feeling to have my efforts recognised, which I will continue to do. Hopefully my efforts will shine through at the Miss England semi-finals in July, and win me a place in the final.”

The 21-year-old told The Gazette: “Charity plays a big part and is at the heart of the competition. During my reign as Miss Basingstoke, I would love to support the community as much as possible in any way I can.

“If there are any businesses, charities, events that anyone feels I could become involved in and help them in any way, please do contact me, as I would love to help.”

Nicola has already started organising a host of charity events. including a children’s Disney and Marvel party on Sunday, May 25.
