A NORTH Hampshire house will feature in a film which is expected to be one of the highest-grossing movies of all time.

Scenes from Avengers: Age of Ultron were shot at Stratfield Saye House, in Stratfield Saye, last summer, when an A-list crew spent eight weeks at the location.

The superhero sequel, released in the UK next week, stars Robert Downey Jr and Scarlett Johansson, and brings together Iron Man, Thor, Captain America, Hulk, Hawkeye and Black Widow, who unite to fight against the evil Ultron.

The first film, The Avengers, broke box office history when it was released in 2012, banking $1billion less than three weeks after its release.

The sequel is expected to do just as well after being released last Thursday.

Charlotte Wright, one of the film’s location managers, said: “Hampshire has some really unique and outstanding locations to offer the film industry and we are always grateful to the local communities who are affected by filming.

“The locals were fantastic and all very excited to find out what it was we were filming and what Hollywood stars they could potentially get sight of in their woods.”

Filming at Stratfield Saye House was made possible by Film Hampshire – part of Hampshire County Council’s economic development service – which promotes Hampshire’s unique character and historic appeal to attract top blockbusting productions to the county.

The house was also used as a backdrop in the film War Horse.

More than £8.5million of production spend was brought to the county last year by Film Hampshire.
