A PROBE has been launched after a green laser was pointed at an aircraft while it flew over Basingstoke.
The incident took place at 9.32pm on Tuesday, April 7, as the plane descended on its way to Southampton Airport.
Police said nobody was hurt by looking directly at the laser but added the investigation could result in arrests and prosecution.
Hampshire Constabulary also wants to find out more about a similar incident that took place at 8.27pm on Wednesday, April 15, at Netley.
The force is not linking the two incidents.
In a statement, the force said: “Pointing laser devices directly at anyone or anything is dangerous and could cause temporary blindness or irreversible eye damage. This is particularly serious when directed at any type of vehicle, especially aircraft.
“Individual aircraft flight deck information, coupled with sophisticated onboard camera and mapping systems can help to identify the location from where a laser device has been used.
“In addition, specially trained officers are able to provide technical advice and assistance to support local officers in identifying suspects, recovering equipment, and investigating the circumstances of its use.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact the Aviation Security Team on 101, quoting 44150126699 or 44150116718.
