YOUNGSTERS were presented with their Bronze Chief Scout Award at a celebration evening.
Around 30 members of the Basingstoke West District Beavers, aged between six and eight, received the award at a presentation evening at Stratton Park, in Kempshott, following months of hard work.
The award is the highest available to Beavers, the youngest age group in the Scout movement, and members had to carry out a wide range of activities to receive the accolade, including creative and fitness challenges and team-building activities.
Peter Bench, the district commissioner for the Basingstoke West District, handed out the certificates to those who had achieved the award.
It is hoped the youngsters will now work their way up to Scouts, Cubs and Explorers, with the aim of eventually achieving The Queen’s Scout award. Mr Bench was handing out the certificates for the last time as he is due to step down from his role next month.
David Foster-Key, who volunteers for the Basingstoke West District, told The Gazette: “I think it was as good as it has always been. They (the children) are always very happy.”
The district is looking for volunteers to help run their nine clubs. If you are interested in volunteering visit basingstokewestscouts.org.uk.
