THE HEADLINE acts for this year’s Basingstoke Live have been announced.

Brighton-based electronic rock act, The Qemists, will take to the main stage at Basingstoke War Memorial Park on Saturday, July 11, while rock band Mungo Jerry will headline the following day.

The Qemists have enjoyed success since the launch of their 2009 album “Join the Q” which featured an impressive list of guest artists including Faith No More’s Mike Patton and popular grime act MC Wiley.

The band has also gone on to record tracks with Enter Shikari and have recently finished a European tour supporting iconic metal band Korn.

On Sunday, Mungo Jerry, which is fronted by Ray Dorset, will perform their cheerful blend of rock, blues and boogie to festival crowds and they will treat crowds to a host of their classic back catalogue including the global hit “In the Summertime”.

The free two-day music extravaganza, which is organised by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council in partnership with the Basingstoke Live Forum, will close the curtain on this year’s Basingstoke Festival.

Cabinet member for partnerships, Councillor Cathy Osselton, said: “Basingstoke Live offers something for every music lover and the involvement of these two very different headline acts underlines it.

“I look forward to the announcement of the full line-up featuring talent from the borough soon.”
