CHILDREN raced around a course while flipping pancakes at an annual event held at their school.

The pupils from South View Junior School, in Shooters Way, took part in the pancake race in the school grounds, much to the amusement of those watching.

Six children were selected from each year group to take part in the event, and were cheered on by the rest of the school as they ran around cones, jumped through hoops and flipped their pancakes all the way to the finish line.

Richard Gaunt, a Year 4 teacher at South View who made the pancakes, said: “Year 3 flip their pancakes three times, Year 4 four times and so on. The Year 6 did six times and they also had to do the can-can so it was quite a spectacle.”

There were also two races for the teachers to take part in.

Mr Gaunt added: “The pancakes were dropped on the floor a few times, so I don’t think anyone will be eating them!”
