A THOUGHT-provoking discussion on forgiveness was held at an event involving two international peace ambassadors.

Jo Berry and Pat Magee visited Whitchurch Parish Hall, in London Street for a screening of Beyond Rights and Wrong: Stories of Justice and Forgiveness.

The pair appear in the documentary – Jo’s father Anthony was killed in the 1984 bombing of the Grand Hotel in Brighton, and she met Pat, the provisional IRA volunteer who was convicted of the bombing following his release from prison in 1999.

Since then they have been involved in peace and reconciliation work around the world.

Following the screening of the award-winning film, Jo and Pat took part in a question and answer session organised by All Hallows Parish Church Social Justice Group.

The audience were also encouraged to offer their views of the work of Jo and Pat.

Andrew Smith, a member of the Social Justice Group, said: “I thought it was very successful and I’ve had feedback from people who said it was good. I think a lot of people found it quite challenging and thought-provoking.”

Proceeds raised from donations made at the event were given to Jo and Pat’s charity, Building Bridges for Peace.
