A GROUP of schoolchildren sang with the stars at a concert held at the O2.

The 28 pupils from Overton Primary School travelled by coach to the London concert venue where they joined other children from schools across the UK for the Young Voices show.

Young Voices arranges more than 14 concerts a year in the UK and Ireland, bringing more than 2,500 schools, 90,000 children and 6,000 teachers together.

The Year 5 and 6 pupils from Over-ton Primary School, in Court Drove, had been rehearsing the rock, pop and classical songs since last September, before performing them at the mass singing event, accompanied by professional artists.

It is the fourth year the school has taken part in the event, which this year included professional singer Lucy Spraggan, who was a finalist in the 2012 X Factor.

Mel Stewart, a teacher at the school who accompanied the pupils, said: “It was a fantastic concert. There was professional lighting and artists and the sound was incredible.

“The parents came on a separate coach and had a wonderful evening. The reports back were that it was a wonderful experience.

“The children knew all the words and moves and they thoroughly enjoyed themselves wholeheartedly and were absolutely over-the-moon to be there.”
