THE Atomic Weapons Establishment is compiling a unique digital community storybook, which will document the history of the site.

The unique project will include photographs, videos, written stories and recordings.

Now, an appeal is going out for anyone who would like to contribute to the project to get in touch with AWE, which has been based in Aldermaston and Burghfield since 1952.

The storybook will aim to capture the scientific and engineering achievements of AWE, while also celebrating visits by royalty and dignitaries and participation in local fundraising events and school projects.

AWE managing director Kevin Bilger said: “Whatever your affiliation to the site, past or present, please share any memories, photographs or correspondence.

“Thank you in advance for helping our digital storybook a true, collaborative, success.”

All stories and ideas are being welcomed in all formats.

To make a submission, email stories@awe community.co.uk or send material to AWE Stories, PO Box 66792, London WC1A 9JZ, including a return address.
