A PLANNED strike by three unions which was scheduled for tomorrow has been suspended.

As reported in The Gazette, South Central Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust had been given notice that Unison, Unite and GMB would strike on Thursday January 29.

Now, after talks between unions and the government, it has been confirmed that the industrial action has been suspended.

A spokesman for the trust said: “We welcome the suspension which means we can concentrate on business as usual.

“We recognise the right of our employees to strike and in light of this action we had been working closely with all our staff, partners and the public to help us reduce demand on our services and help us to continue to protect our patients.

“It remains incredibly important that members of the public think how they can use our services appropriately, ensuring that 999 is only used if absolutely essential.”
