ENTREPRENEURS across Basingstoke will be able to hear and learn more about new 5G technology next month.

The SETsquared hub will be hosting a conference on the future of 5G technology.

5G is the next generation of mobile communications technology which will be capable of handling increased demand for mobile data.

The conference, which will take place between 5.30pm and 8pm on February 5 at the incubation hub at The Innovation Centre, in Basing View, will see leading figures consider the opportunities for “smart start-ups” and how people can create new, world-class businesses around the technology.

Confirmed speakers at the event include Professor Stephen Temple, a technical secretary to the Technical Advisory Board at the 5G Innovation Centre at the University of Surrey and the vice president of Telefonica Europe, Dr Mike Short.

Simon Bond, innovation director at SETsquared, said: “This event puts Basingstoke right at the cutting edge of new, exciting and vital technologies, and we’re proud to be able to deliver it at our new hub at the Innovation Centre.

“5G, which is the next generation of mobile communications technology, will be a flexible infrastructure capable of handling our ever increasing demand for mobile data and providing connectivity for a wide range of future technologies from advanced gaming to driverless cars.”
