SALVAGE work continues on the stricken Hoegh Osaka in Southampton Water, but plans to move it tomorrow now look like they could be scuppered.
According to the Marine and Coastguard Agency (MCA) says that while weather conditions are currently 'favourable', the forecast suggests that will soon change, meaning the planned attempt to move the vessel tomorrow will not go ahead.
The ship is currently listing at 39° having originally been at 52°. The plan is to leave the ship at it's current location of Alpha Anchorage until the list is reduced to 15° before any attempt to move the vessel is made.
Work is continuing to remove the clean water from the Hoegh Osaka's car decks and it is being pumped into the empty fuel tanks in an attempt to rebalance the ship ahead of moving it to a berth at Southampton Docks.
The MCA say they will issue a further update on the salvage operation tomorrow.
