A WEATHER warning has been issued for Hampshire, as the Met Office predicts severe gales could hit the county tonight.

Strong wind is expected to develop from 5pm and inland gusts could exceed 60mph, and may be accompanied by heavy rain.

The Met Office’s yellow warning advises the public to “be aware of the risk of disruption to transport and possibly power supplies.”

The strongest winds are expected from late evening and throughout the night.

Heavy rain is also expected from tonight, before clearing tomorrow morning.

The public are being warned to be aware of possible disruption to travel because of standing water and spray, as well as localised flooding.
