BASINGSTOKE MP Maria Miller has welcomed the news that unemployment in Basingstoke has fallen to its lowest level in 14 years.
The latest figures have shown there are 691 people unemployed across Basingstoke.
Mrs Miller said: “The hard work of local businessmen and women has meant almost 1,000 new businesses have been set up in Basingstoke in the past 12 months.
“Businesses are starting to have the confidence to invest in taking on new people, and as a result, over the past four years, unemployment has halved in Basingstoke.”
