A BASINGSTOKE teenager died yesterday following a collision on the A30.

A collision occurred between a Skoda Octavia taxi and a pedestrian on the A30 Winchester Road near the junction with Down Grange Farm shortly after half past midnight on New Year’s Day.

The pedestrian, a man in his late teens, received serious injuries and was taken to hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The next-of-kin have been informed, but the deceased man will not be named until all formal identification procedures are completed.

The taxi driver, a man aged in his 30s from Basingstoke, was shaken but not seriously injured.

Police are now appealing for witnesses to the collision itself or any motorists who saw a pedestrian walking along the A30 near Down Grange Farm between midnight and half past midnight on Thursday, January 1, 2015.
