RESIDENTS in a Basingstoke care home got a festive treat when children from a local school visited to sing Christmas carols.

Children from St Bede’s Catholic Primary School, in Popley Way, paid a visit to residents in nearby Marnel Lodge Care Home, in Carter Drive, Popley.

About 20 children from the school sang to an eager audience of 25 residents, treating them to renditions of festive classics such as I’m Dreaming Of A White Christmas and We Wish You A Merry Christmas.

Ann Hadley, activities co-ordinator at the school, told The Gazette: “The residents loved it and they loved seeing the children because it brings back the festive spirit and brings back the memories of seeing nativities.

“I would like to thank children from the school for coming to the home and entertaining our residents.”
