A SPECIAL cup was presented in memory of a special lady at an annual Old Basing bazaar.
Old Basing Royal British Legion paid homage to much-loved Stella Hobbs, of Old Basing, who was a supporter of the organisation for more than three decades. She passed away in July at the age of 89.
The branch arranged for a cup to be presented in her name to the winner of the ‘best presented stall’ at the annual bazaar.
Her daughter Cate Hobbs said: “She wanted donations to go to the RBL, and we were happy to buy a cup in her memory. It does seem very appropriate.”
Tammy Lake, president of the women’s section, said of Stella: “She was very well known and very well-loved, and this is a nice way to remember her.
“She was very artistic and that’s why we chose this category.”
Mrs Hobbs was at the event to judge the category with her brother Ian. She chose a tombola stall run by Beryl Viner and Pat Perman as the winner of the cup for its beautiful Christmas display.
Pat said: “I was determined to win this. I already have space cleared out on my mantelpiece!”
The bazaar saw scores of shoppers through the doors looking to pick up a Christmas bargain.
The event was raising money for the RBL Benevolent Fund.
