FAMILIES enjoyed some festive fun at a community event in Overton.
Around 85 people, including children, mums, dads and grandparents, flocked to St Luke’s Hall, in Winchester Street, last Saturday for a family Christmas party.
The event, held by The Community Church (West), saw children take part in fun activities including colouring competitions, arts and crafts, a ‘guess how many sweets are in the jar’ competition, and ball games.
Youngsters got the chance to listen to the story of Christmas during a book reading and sang their hearts out in a Christmas carol singing session.
Adults could also enter a raffle at the event with the chance to win an afternoon tea for two, which was donated by the Overton Gallery.
Earl Robinson, leader of the church, told The Gazette: “This is the second time we have run this event. We do it to bless the community and share the Christmas story |in a fun way, and also to change the perception of what the church is and what the church does.
“It is a family event so we encourage families to hang out together, doing crafts and singing together.
“We try to give something back to the community.”
