A YOUNG schoolgirl has had her long locks trimmed for a good cause.

Eva Gillings-Berloth, who is five, had 11 inches cut from her hair at Blades Hair Salon, in Aldermaston.

Her hair will now be donated to the Little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for seriously-ill boys and girls across the UK who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment.

Eva, who goes to Aldermaston Church of England Primary School, was inspired to donate her long hair after her four-year-old friend Jake lost his hair following treatment for leukaemia.

Her aunt Carrie was also told that she had lung cancer four years ago but doctors managed to locate it early and she made a full recovery.

Eva’s mum Erin Gillings, who lives in Whitedown Road, Tadley, told The Gazette: “She saw Jake lose his hair and she became quite aware of how many kids are going through the same thing at the moment, so we started talking about her having her hair cut. She really enjoyed doing it in the end.”

Following the trip to the hair salon, Eva celebrated her big cut by enjoying cupcakes with the rest of her family.
