SNOWFLAKES were at the heart of a week-long event held to raise money for charity.

Children and staff from Kiddi Caru, in Beggarwood, enjoyed various activities based around snowflakes to raise funds for Home-Start’s Snowflake Appeal.

The charity supports families with young children, and has a centre based in north Hampshire.

Children decorated the entire nursery with snow spray and helped build a snowflake grotto in an outdoor gazebo. They also decorated snowflake biscuits and came to nursery dressed as snowflakes.

The week’s activities culminated in children working together to make a giant snowflake using various craft materials.

Merchandise from the Snowflake Appeal, including enamel pin badges, stickers and message cards, were available to buy from the nursery to help raise funds.

The appeal, which runs until January 31, and is being fronted by celebrity Kirstie Allsopp, will help Home-Start’s volunteers have the training and support they need to continue to make a difference to the lives of vulnerable children.

Suzanne Chilvers, nursery manager, said: “We are delighted to be supported this year’s Snowflake Appeal. Not only does the campaign raise funds for an extremely worthy cause, but also Home-Start chose this particular theme to emphasise how totally unique and in need of nurturing every child is – a philosophy with which we wholeheartedly agree.”
