A PLAN to deal with heavy snow fall has been drawn up by a district council.
Hart District Council has announced that it is prepared for any adverse weather this winter, and is asking residents to think about how they can also be prepared.
The council’s snow plan will be implemented if significant snow fall prevents the council from undertaking its normal operations.
Councillor Alan Oliver, Cabinet member for environment, said: “We have a detailed plan so that we can continue to provide as many services as possible if we encounter heavy snow fall this winter. We are advising residents to buy salt and snow shovels now from local garden centres so they are prepared.”
Residents are also encouraged to support the local community by clearing snow and ice from the pavements outside their homes and in public spaces, to prevent slips and falls.
However, they are reminded to consider the following points when clearing snow and ice:
- Clear the snow and ice early in the day
- Use salt and sand – not water as it could freeze
- Take care where you move the snow
- Offer to clear your neighbours' paths
