A LONG-awaited youth facility in Tadley has moved a step closer after Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council gave the green light to the scheme.

As previously reported by The Gazette, the Tadley and District Community Association applied for planning permission to build a new youth building after they secured more than £800,000 of funding to finance the scheme.

And the project has now moved forward after the borough council approved plans for the project, which will feature a multi-purpose hall, a grassy recreational space outside the building and 60 parking spaces.

The facility is set to create three part-time roles and will be open between 9am and 11pm.

Adrian Noad, chairman of the Tadley and District Community Association, told The Gazette: “It is very good news, and it is one more hurdle out of the way as we move forward.

“It is a facility that is needed as there is nothing out here for kids. Provisionally, we are aiming for spring of next year but it is provisional.”
